Civic Health Ballot: Seeing the Connection Between Voting and Health

At Civic Health Alliance, we believe that voting is a health issue. Now, a group of talented students from The Cooper Union has built something that makes that connection impossible to ignore.

Civic Health Ballot is an interactive web experience that visualizes how voter turnout correlates with uninsured rates and life expectancy across the country. Starting with a national view of all 50 states, the experience zooms into New York City neighborhoods to reveal stark local disparities, and closes with real patient stories that bring the data to life.

The project was created spring 2026 by The Cooper Union Engineering students (Cho, Ellis, Wang, and  Zhang). Explore Civic Health Ballot at civic-health-ballot.surge.sh and see for yourself why your vote is one of the most powerful health decisions you can make.
