Welcome to the 1,000 Caring Voices Initiative
Healthcare workers have the power to change America’s health—but only if they vote. The 1,000 Caring Voices Project is bringing people together to make civic engagement (voting, advocacy, and community action) a normal part of our communities. We’re recruiting 1,000 Champions—starting with healthcare professionals like doctors, nurses, and dentists, but open to anyone who believes in the power of civic engagement.
Champions will teach their communities how to get involved and help people vote safely and easily. By working together through 2026 and beyond, we can build a country where everyone has a voice in the policies that affect our health and well-being.
Ready to be part of the change? Join as a Caring Voice Champion today.
Healthcare Champions Strengthening Civic Engagement for Health

WHY THIS MATTERS

Health doesn’t start in the exam room — it’s shaped by public policy. Research shows that civic engagement, including voting, is linked to better health outcomes. Yet participation remains uneven, especially among marginalized communities and even healthcare professionals themselves. 1,000 Caring Voices exists to close that gap.
WHAT IS 1,000 CARING VOICES

1,000 Caring Voices is a nonpartisan national initiative of Civic Health Alliance that mobilizes healthcare workers and community members as Caring Voice Champions leading up to and beyond the 2026 midterm elections.
Champions help people engage in democracy safely and confidently, while partnering with community based organizations already doing justice-centered work.

FAQ for the 1,000 Caring Voices Initiative
Who can become a Caring Voice Champion?
Anyone can become a Champion—we started with healthcare workers, but we welcome doctors, nurses, dentists, teachers, community organizers, social workers, and everyday people who care about civic engagement and want to make a difference in their communities. You don’t need special experience; just passion and a willingness to help others get involved.

What does a Champion actually do?
Champions lead civic engagement activities in their communities—things like organizing voter registration drives, hosting town halls, writing letters to elected officials, and teaching others about the importance of voting. You’ll get training and ready-made resources to make it easy. Think of it as being a local leader who inspires people to participate in democracy.
How much time does this take?
The time commitment is flexible and up to you. The main project runs from February through November 2026, with training in spring and activities ramping up through the midterms. Some Champions may dedicate a few hours a month, while others go all-in. We’ll work with you to find a schedule that works.
Do I get paid to be a Champion?
This is a volunteer initiative, so Champions aren’t paid. However, you’ll receive free training, customizable toolkits, promotional materials, and support from the Civic Health Alliance team. Many Champions find the impact—helping their community engage in democracy—is the real reward.
What resources and support will I get as a Champion?
You’ll get everything you need: virtual training sessions on civic engagement, customizable Champion toolkits (available in multiple languages with accessibility features), social media graphics, talking points, and ongoing support from our team. We also connect Champions with Community-Based Organizations in your area to amplify your impact.
